Mexico Sugar Export Permits to USA on Hold

In a series of ongoing tensions between Mexico and the US, Mexico temporarily revoked existing sugar export permits to its northern neighbor. The dictum affects 54 permits spread across 23 mills. Permits are expected to be re-issued in coming months.

“Permits were “suspended” to comply with accords with the United States because the export limit for the six months up to March 31 was reached ahead of time.” –Juan Diaz Mazadiego, Director of Foreign Trade.
